Essay

The dissertation introduces the concept of the "nation's mental identity", names the common and nation-specific characteristics of Ukrainian and German language speakers' mentality where it is relevant to the translation process, identifies the interrelation between the nation's mental identity and the translation strategy, determines the most effective translation methods of the ethnolexis in order to decode the specifics of mental identity for the Ukrainian and German speaking nations. The scientific newness of the topic lies in the complex evidence of the necessity for considering knowledge of ethnical mentality in the translation process. Additionally, this is the first time this has been done in Ukrainian Translation Studies.
