Essay

Based on various sources of data the processes of reforming the system of higher education in Ukraine in the 1990s of the 20th century and at the beginning of the 21st century are investigated. The author defines stages, forms and methods of educational processes according to the Bologna process requirements in higher educational institutions of all levels of accreditation. The author takes a very close look at the dynamics of changing the students' role in the educational process of higher school. The author analyzes official documents which influenced on the reformation of higher education in Ukraine. Main stages and mechanisms of licensing and accreditation of higher educational institutions are determined and investigated. The author outlines main functions of higher school: socioeconomic; sociopolitical; cultural and educational. Changes in teaching staff and the development of science activities are emphasized. The author also reveals the activity of higher educational institutions concerning theimplement of new technologies in the process of education.To sum it up, the author states that under existing conditions when Ukraine builds socially oriented market economy, forms democratic social relations, deepens the integration into world community, the social development of the country requires further changes in the system of higher education, renewal and modernization of educational process.
