Nagorna H. Experimental substantiation of the expediency for using nicotinamide to prevent doxorubicine-induced cardiomyopathy

Thesis deals with an experimental validation of the expediency for using Nicotinamide in combination with doxorubicine for prevention of cardiomyopathy. Results of morphological (histochemical and pathomorphological) studies suggest the improvement of myocardium energy supply as an important pathway of Nicotinamide cardioptrotection in doxorubicin cardiomiopathy. The results of physical and chemical studies revealed the preparation affinity to biomembranes constituents to play an essential role in the mechanism of cardioprotective effects of Nicotinamide. Complexing properties of Nicotinamide contribute to a lesser iron ions effect on the stimulation of lipid peroxidation, on the one hand, and contribute to metaloenzymes protection, on the other hand. Analysis of the results of histochemical studies helped to assess and differentiate the main sites of cytostatics application to the myocardium, as well as to correlate the nature of changes of different metabolic pathways with the existing structural impairments.
