Essay

The dissertation based on the earlier unknown documents of the State Archive of the Security Service of Ukraine and others documents and materials, is dedicated to the liquidated Greek Catholic Church of NKVD-NKGB. In the L'viv "Synod" of 8-10 March 1946 in Galicia and 1949 in Carpatho-Ukraine the Soviet regime liquidated the Greek Catholic Church to neutralize a source of national-religious life in the USSR. The dissertation opens up to the readers how soviet power used the Security Service, as a main instrument in the repressive policy and organized of the many criminal cases and trials. It was done to political and morals discredit of the Greek Catholic Church - on of the most widespread confession and important factor of the religion's life in Ukraine of the XX century, to relieve it from the historical context of the Ukrainian society's development. The author analyses the work of the Security Service, viewing the role of soviet state security organs in the affair of the liquidation Greek CatholicChurch in Western Ukraine.
