Essay

The thesis focuses upon the study of cognitive and communicative peculiarities of translation of bilateral treaties from Spanish into Ukranian. The cognitive analysis of bilateral Spanish?Ukranian treaties enables us to establish the equivalance or adequacy between the source text and the target text at the conceptual, communicative, textual and linguistic levels, as well as gives the possibility to reveal the main factors causing transformations in traslation. Due to the universal character of conceptual categories of the international treaties and rigid structure of their pragmatic division, the relation of absolute equivalency is established at both conceptual and textual levels. The relation of adequacy is established at the communicative level while the discrepancies of speech norms are overcome by the transposition of grammatical categories, the transposition of the parts of speech, the actant transformation and the trasformations of syntactic relations. The systemic-linguistic discrepancies stipulate the transformations and paraphrases. Concepts that are activated in the international treaties concern universal problems of humanity. They are expressed by means of lexical units, the main translation method of which is the search for a conceptual equivalent.
