Kachanovskay T. The Poetics of proper name in the 19th-century French sonnets as a problem of translation studies (based on sonnets of G. de Nerval, Ch. Baudelaire, S. Mallarme and J.-M. de Heredia).

The thesis deals with linguistic, poetic, stylistic and genre problems of rendering into Ukrainian of proper names that occur in the French sonnets. Also we consider the cases of introducing by translators into their texts of proper names that have no convergent correspondences in the originals. Peculiarities of the functioning of proper names and of their minimal contexts in the mentioned above poems, and main tendencies of translation of these language facts into Ukrainian were studied. In particular, we showed that various functional semantic groups and categories of proper names and of their minimal contexts have different reproducibility values in translations. Dependence of these values on genre constraints and on peculiarities of author's and translator's style was studied. Also we give some recommendations how to attain a functional equivalence between discussed language facts and their translator's correspondences.
