This thesis focuses on the study of lingual and stylistic peculiarities of personage portrait creation in Spanish belles-lettres of the 19th-20th centuries by revealing its structural and compositional features. The main parameters of personage portrait in the fiction are analyzed. They are personage appearance, his inward and kinetic characteristics. Structural and compositional organization of character portrait in Spanish belles-lettres is determined. The most typical lexical, figurative and stylistic means of character portrait representation by Spanish writers in the artistic literature are ascertained and systematized. The evolution of ways and means of the personage portrait creation in texts under analysis is examined. The specificity of personage portrait representation in the texts under study is singled out. Tendencies in the Spanish literature of the 19th-20th centuries and the author's purport are proved to have a certain influence on the linguistic and stylistic means of the personage representation in the belles lettres.
