Essay

The paper considers the formation of woman movement in Halychyna, the contribution of women and their societies into the development of schooling and pre-school education. Special attention is focused on the questions of their participation in extensive building elementary, junior, vocational-supplementary woman schools, in developing the network of pre-school establishments (nurseries, kindergartens, summer camps) in towns and villages of the region. In the course of the research it has been outlined that women-teachers actively worked on improving teaching and upbringing process in different types of schools, on reinforcing the national content of Ukrainian school; worked out Ukrainian, elaborated textbooks and manuals. The paper defines the active participation of the Ukrainian woman movement leaders in solving the problems of family, pre-school and social education. The main results, principles and conclusions of the research can be used in teaching pedagogics and history of Ukrainian pedagogics, in working out the educational programs, special seminars and courses, in preparing textbooks and manuals that will stimulate the respect and creative usage of national pedagogical experience in contemporary conditions.
