Essay

Thesis focuses on actual issues of genetics and clinical medicine - the determinftion of the role of inherited and medical-biological factors in the development of antenatal pathologies of fetuses and perinatal pathologies of neonates with the view of prognosing the risk of the development of perinatal pathologies in a neonatal period. The occurrence of the retarded intrauterine development has been proved to be associated with the GSTМ1 deletion polymorphism in fetuses. The development of severe perinatal pathologies and neonatal syndromes such as: perinatal damage of the central nervous system, respiratory distress syndrome, necrotizing enterocolitis, neonatal jaundice and intranatal asphyxia, is associated with the GSTT1 deletion polymorphism and the combination of nonfunctional gene alleles of neonates. The presence of certain combination of polymorphic variants of the investigated genes has been detected to change the risk of the development of pathologic states. There have been established main medical-biological risk factors in the development of perinatal pathologies in neonates (intrauterine infection, chronic intrauterine hypoxia, preeclampsia of pregnant women, complicated obstetric and gynecologic history in mothers). There have been determined inherited factors in the development of intrauterine infection. The method of prognosing the risk of perinatal pathologies in neonates has been suggested on the basis of the obtained data.
