Thesis is dedicated to the holostic and system historical and pedagogical analysis of the origin of the notion of spirituality in the second half of the ХІХ – 20-th, ХХ century. There had been analyzed and generalized the contemporary views on the questions of spirituality and historiography on the issue of research; there had been determined the historical, social and pedagogical factors of the common and categorizational identification of spirituality; there had also been exposed the scientific discourse of the question within the period under consideration; the tendencies of notion origin experience accounting during the process of transformation of modern Ukrainian education had been shown.
