Object: English nouns in texts of literary works and their Ukrainian equivalents. Aim: to describe factors that cause changes of substan-tive numerical forms in Ukrainian-English transla-tion. Practical value of the research consists in possibility of using its results for translating, train-ing and writing manuals on Translation and Con-trastive Grammar. Methods: comparison of original and translated texts; quantitative method; method of vocabulary definitions; distributive and contextual methods.
