The thesis in question investigates the process of national consciousness upbringing as necessary professional educational quality for primary school teachers and defines the role of Ukrainian Literature and its artistic word in this process as fundamental principle for intellectual and social development of young people, one of the main national factors that helps to bring up national consciousness of future primary school teachers in process of their vocational training in pedagogical school. The work under consideration makes practical-theoretical and educational analysis of the problem, states main functions of national consciousness, its historical development levels, structural components and their characteristics. The work also defines identification criteria of the levels of national consciousness upbringing; works out and approves main professionally directed educational ways for application of Ukrainian artistic word into teaching and educational process. The author of the given work experimentally proves their effective influence through appropriate factors, first of all artistic pictorial factor, the factor that influences national consciousness as a whole and its structural components. The author of the thesis has worked out specific practical recommendations concerning upbringing of national consciousness of future primary school teachers in process of their vocational training in pedagogical school by means of Ukrainian artistic word and outlined priority directions for further studies of the problem in question.
