Essay

The dissertation is dedicated to the theoretical and methodological, and methodical substantiation, development, and experimental verification of the pedagogical technology for cultivating poly- and multiculturalism in future philologists within foreign language education. After having analyzed philosophical, linguo-cultural, and psycho-pedagogical scientific sources, the theoretical and methodological foundations for fostering poly- and multiculturalism in future philologists at higher education institutions (HEI) have been identified; these align with contemporary global trends in professional training and education of future specialists in the context of inter- and cross-cultural interaction. The components of poly- and multiculturalism have been delineated as cognitive, axiological, communicative, self-regulatory, and cultural-creative, and thus, mutually determine and complement the cognitive, affective, value, motivational and self-regulatory, and behavioral spheres, defining an individual’s ability to interact with representatives of other cultures at all levels of inter- and cross-cultural communication. A theoretically grounded, designed, and experimentally tested technology for fostering poly- and multiculturalism in future philologists at HEIs has been introduced. The technology involves the step-by-step formation of positive motivation for poly- and multicultural development, polyliteracy, aesthetic sensibilities, and interest in domestic and global cultures. It also includes the acquisition of linguo-cultural knowledge and values based on tolerance and emotional self-regulation in the process of cultural dialogue / polylogue. This is manifested in the ability to engage in inter- and cross-cultural communication, utilize poly- and multicultural education technology, and reflect on pedagogical activities with a subsequent commitment to professional linguistic and poly- and multicultural self-development.
