The thesis is devoted to the analysis of linguistic and pragmatic means of expressing polyphony in the genre of analytic article in modern French press discourse. Polyphony is considered in pragmatic, communicative, semantic and discursive aspects from the point of view of its social-discursive and interdiscursive nature. The work examines the types of social actors as bearers of certain voices and points of view and the forms and means of marking their communicative presence. During the analysis such linguistic and pragmatic means of expressing polyphony were distinguished: structural syntactic, structural semantic, lexical and semantic, semantic. The notion of the focus of interaction of voices as the single criterion of the classification of the types of polyphony by the way of the interaction of voices was introduced. The work examines the specificity of intertextual and interdiscursive types of polyphony in press discourse. The functions of polyphony and the types of polyphonic organization of theanalytic article were distinguished. The work proves the fundamental character of polyphony in press discourse that acquires the status of determinative category of media discourse.
