In the dissertation methodological, psychological and pedagogical bases of development of aesthetic tastes in senior pupils of comprehensive schools are discovered. Special attention is played to the analysis of teaching conditions under which this process takes place. Main directions of development of aesthetic tastes of senior pupils of comprehensive schools, in particular, to communication and to work activity, to beauty in nature and to every day life, to literature and to art have been investigated. For the first time the author of the dissertation has worked out and introduced into school practice the experimental model of development of aesthetic tastes of senior pupils of comprehensive schools. Pedagogical conditions and factors of development of aesthetic tastes of senior pupils in a teaching/ learning process have been theoretically grounded and checked up. A positive influence of the improved educational technologies on the development of the above mentioned qualities of pupils at the levelof their general cultural development has been revealed too. The influence of the development of some personal qualities of senior pupils on the formation of their aesthetic tastes in the process of aesthetic upbringing has been proved.
