Essay

The object is long-term unemployment in Ukraine. The purpose is development of the theoretical, methodological and practical elements of the comprehensive estimation procedure of long-term unemployment and scientific justification of the priority directions of its regulation subject to the current facilities and effectiveness of the implemented measures. The methods used are of system analysis, mathematical modeling, statistical and analytical methods, of cluster and econometric analysis. The novelty - classification of the main consequences of long-term unemployment is improved, the methodology of the comprehensive estimation procedure of long-term unemployment is developed, econometric model of unemployment duration is designed, theoretical and methodological basis for implementation of the profiling procedure in Ukraine is elaborated. The results are: classification analysis of the pool of long-term unemployed in Ukraine is performed, determinants of unemployment duration at microlevel are identified and the patterns of exits from unemployment to employment or inactivity are analysed, primary measures aimed at the improvement of the mechanism of long-term unemployment regulation are justified. Results have been applied in economic practice.
