Essay

The thesis aims to provide a comprehensive analysis and classification of the transformations which subjects undergo in the process of translation from English into Ukrainian. A subject transformation is defined as an interlingual synonymic change of the surface syntactic structure of the source language sentence when the subject changes its syntactic function in the translated sentence. The actant of the deep syntactic sentence structure that was represented as the subject on the surface level of the source language sentence changes its function in the process of translation and is represented as a predicate, an object, an attribute or an adverbial modifier in the target language sentence.
