Object – historic-pedagogic process of the formation of a human’s axiological attitude towards nature; subject of the theoretical ideas, outlooks and practical experience of pupils’ axiological attitude towards nature in native pedagogy of the 19th – the beginning of the 20th centuries; the research objective - to define the axiological foundation for the formation of pupils’ ethic attitude towards nature which was worked out by native pedagogic theory and practice of the end of the 19th –the beginning of the 20th centuries; research methods - theoretical methods (analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, analogy, system analysis, generalization, formalization, abstracting); empiric methods (pedagogic examination, questionnaire, discussion, polling, simulation of pedagogic situation, documentation examination, interpretive analysis of regulatory documents, educational programs, textbooks and handbooks); scientific novelty of the thesis lies in the fact that: for the first time the axiological approach was distinguished as a basis for the process of the formation of pupils’ axiological attitude towards nature in native pedagogical heritage of the 19th – the beginning of the 20th centuries; the theoretical ideas and conceptions of the representatives of the native pedagogical heritage of the 19th –the beginning of the 20th centuries concerning the formation of pupils’ axiological attitude towards nature were systemized; new materials of Ukrainian pedagogic opinion and experience were carried in scientific usage which specify and complete the axiological foundation process of the formation of pupils’ axiological attitude towards nature; scientific approaches, principles, methods of the ecological school education were developed.
