Yatsyna O. Pedagogical, cultural and educational activity of the "Prosvita" society in Transcarpathia (1920-1939).

The dissertation is devoted to a topical theme, the study of the pedagogical, cultural and educational activity of the Prosvita society in Transcarpathia in the inter-war period. The thesis determines the sources of the enlightenment in the region in late 19th - early 20th centuries, analyses ideological and organizational bases of the Prosvita's activity (1920-1939) in the region, studies the society's influence on the development of the Transcarpathian Ukrainians' schooling and the Prosvita's role in the liquidation of illiteracy in Transcarpathia. Particular attention is paid to the active participation of teachers in the cultural and educational activity of the society. The analysis of the pedagogical and educational heritage of the Prosvita activists who were practicing teachers has raised the possibility of a creative application of their work in the instruction and education process of the educational institutions and public organizations of today.The materials and the main theses of the dissertation may be used in the course of the History of Pedagogy.In special courses of higher educational establishments of various degrees of accreditation, as well as in preparing teaching materials.
