Essay

The object is the socio-economical structure of the Ukrainian population and the status characteristics of the social groups that have the middle class stratification features. The aim lies in working out methodological approaches to the Ukrainian middle class scale evaluation, in revealing its development peculiarities and elaboration of the propositions as to the policy and strategic tendencies of its formation. Methods are critical synthesis of the classical theories and latest opinions, functional, system analysis, dialectical, abstraction and generalization, typology method, graphic, prediction and comparative approach. Novelty lies in working out theoretical-methodological grounds for the Ukrainian middle class definition, selection methods and criteria, in evaluation of its scale and composition, in grounding the proposition as to the policy and strategic tendencies of its further formation. The results are in the suggestion of a complex adapted to the current conditions in Ukraine methodology of the middle class definition, a system of criteria and rates of the scale and Ukrainian middle class structure evaluation, in the evaluation of the Ukrainian middle class scale, in the formulating and grounding of the state policy priorities and strategic tendencies as to the middle class formation in Ukraine. It is introduced into the economic practice.
