Essay

The work is the complex analysis and generaliza-tion of theoretical principles and practical experience of studies assessment as a means of pu-pils' personality development in primary school in the 2nd half of the 20th century. The peculiarities of structure, content, forms, methods and means of primary school pupils' assessment are defined and revealed. The essence of non-traditional approaches to assessment in primary school as a precondition of nowadays functioning system formation of studies assessment in Ukraine is analyzed. The possibilities of the usage of the content and grade assessment modern educational practice are analyzed in order to contribute to creative de-velopment of primary school pupils under the con-ditions of self-oriented educational process.
