Object: scientific-pedagogigal works of pedology representatives in Ukraine in 20-30 years of the XX century; aіm: on the basis of theoretical reconstruction of the achievements and the main concepts of pedology as the science about education and upbringing to reveal the methodological bases, the main conceptual sources, procedural characteristics of new knowledge getting and determine the possibilities of using the experince of person-centered researches and educating a child in modern Ukraine; methods: historical and pedagogical analysis, historiographical analysis, problem-comparative, structural and system methods; novelty: for the first time pedology has been identified as the science about education and upbringing; the preconditions of development and idea sources of pedology have been determined and characterized; the theoretic-methodical bases of pedology have been described; the content of scientific and pedagogical activity of pedology’s representatives in 20-30 years of the XX century has been revealed; the most important criteria of pedology’s scientific character have been defined; results: research material can be used in higher educational institutions for teaching “History of Pedagogics”, „General pedagogics”; for textbooks and teaching aids development; for optional courses and seminars in pedagogical sciences; field: general pedagogy and history of pedagogy.
