For the first time in the native art the complex of Ukrainian icons of Saint Nikolas of the end of the 14th-16th centuries is learnt as atomic, not subdued to other problem of research, disclosed through the prism of the cult of Saints on the Ukrainian land, in the context of the reception of the Byzantine icon in the art of the Kiev Rus. The complex work on iconography, typology, semantics and style of Ukrainian icons helped to disclose their national peculiarity. In the process of research was found that iconography and artistic system of Ukrainian of Saint Nikolas had a continuous way of development, saved in the course of centuries the foundation of the Byzantine culture and art traditions of ancient Kiev, enriched with over thought elements of the west icon painting.
