The dissertation is devoted to the analysis of semantic and phonographic characteristics of lexical borrowings from different languages in the sphere of culture in French. The description of cultural borrowings, their definition and typology based on structural-semantic criterion are proposed. The cultural borrowings are defined as key elements for mental universal transformations in the national language picture of the world.
