Essay

The subject matter of the research is iconography, stylistic features and media of the Slobojanshina. The particular task of the research is to study the activity of the artistic centers of Slobojanshina, to show their technical methods of mural painting and of icons. The iconographical analysis of the Slobojanshina easel and mural painting was made for the first time; the iconographical systems of the iconostases and mural paintings were also under the study. The sources of the artistic education of the Slobojanshina artists of the 19th – the beginning of the 20th century were systemized. Some personalities and their masterpieces, facts earlier unknown to the art history were revealed.
