Poberezhets O. Cerebroprotective qualities of the vinboron (experimental research)

The models with accute damage of the cerebral blood stream (bilateral carotid artery occlusion) in adult and old rats found, that vinboron (1 and 3 mg/kg) demonstrates cerebroprotective qualities. Experimental therapy (14 days) of the rats with the acute ditrubance of cerebral blood flow by means of vinboron (3 mg/kg), similarly to piracetam (200 mg/kg), was accompanied by easing of the signs of energy shortage in ischemic cerebral hemisphere. The treatment of the accute damage of the cerebral blood stream by vinboron, as well as piracetam promoted to the improving oxidant- antioxidant homeostasis. The specified changes of metabolic processes under the action of both substances correlated with the positive dynamics of a morphological picture of the ischemic cerebral hemisphere. Found, that vinboron demonstrate antiamnesic qualities in experimental rats with amnesia. The mechanism of the cerebroprotective effect of the vinboron is connected with its stimulating influence on the cerebral blood flow, as well as with its ability to improve rheological properties of blood by decreasing the content of fibrinogen in plasma, by blocking the activity tissue thromboplastin, having an ability to improve metabolic processes in ischemic cerebral hemisphere, and partially to block N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors, also having an anticonvulsant action.
