Virchenko P. Territorial organization of the system of education of a region (Kharkov region is given as an example)

The object the research is the education system of Kharkov region as component of the regional socio-geographical system. Its purpose is a socio-geographical analysis of the peculiarities of the spatial time and functional structure of the education system of Kharkov region. Such methods of research as systematic analysis and general scientific methods have been used in this work. Theoretical and practical results and the novelty value include a detailed analysis of the territorial organisation of the education system of Kharkov region that has been performed for the first time. The dynamics of the development of the education system for the period from 1991 till 2008 have been analysed thoroughly. Scientific division into period of the development of the education system of Kharkov region has been completed and six phases of its historical and geographical peculiarities have been found out. Grouping of the administrative areas (rayon's) of Kharkov region has been fulfilled. Seven educational areas - subclusters - have been picked out. The results of this research can be used for the development of the socio-economic development strategies of the region, in particular for the optimisation of the territorial structure of the education system as well as for planning of the regional policy in the domain of controlling education.
