Essay

The aim of the study was to evaluate the influence of liposomes on the development of hypoxic pulmonary hypertension and elucidate the possible mechanisms of their action. Study was conducted on rats, in which the main parameters of cardio- and hemodynamics in pulmonary and systemic circulation were registered. Obtained data suggest the feasibility of using phosphatidylcholine liposomes for pharmacological treatment of hypoxic pulmonary hypertension. These liposomes possibly act as a competitive target for phosphatidylcholine-specific phospholipase C protecting the plasma membrane of endothelial cells of pulmonary blood vessels, which along with their other properties (restoration of plasma membrane integrity, alleviation of tissue acidosis) provides the hypotensive effect in hypoxia.
