The dissertation focuses on studying of factors of formation and partitioning of dialects of Umbria Region and a complex description of all language levels of the subdialect of Perugia as one of Umbrian dialects and development of model of studying of a dialect in view of extralinguistic factors (age, level of education, profession) of speakers of this dialect and definition of possible ways of further development on the basis of sociolinguistic analysis of language situation in Umbria and in view of regional variation of the Italian language in different areas of the country.
