Essay

The current study is analyzing the convergence of trade between Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs), Baltic states, Ukraine and European Union (EU) for the period since 1984. Therefore, we apply trade gravity model in order to calculate the potentials for CEECs trade with EU-15 countries. Unlike the vast majority of the literature on trade potentials of CEECs, this research considers convergence of two trade components: extensive and intensive margins. While the first part of trade convergence relates to extension of trade categories' set, the second part controls for trade intensification per one product category.
