Object - general education in Great Britain; aim - to systematize theoretical ideas and generalize the practice of elementary education in Great Britain in the 19th century in order to justify the prognostic tendencies of using pedagogically valuable experience in the national system of education; methods - comparative-historical, system-structural, of specific search; novelty - the research has been the first one to provide a systematic analysis of the aspects of theory and practice of elementary education in Great Britain during the specific historical period (19th century), three stages in the development of elementary education in Great Britain during the period under research according to the elementary school network formation and level of pedagogical theory development are defined and substantiated, the groups of aspects which influenced the development of elementary education in Great Britain during the period under research are specified; results - theoretical ideas and factual material concerning the development of elementary education in Great Britain are incorporated in the content of the integrative special teaching course "Elementary education in Great Britain (historical aspect)" and in the tasks for master degree students individual research work ; field - pedagogy
