Essay

The subject of investigation is the negative processes in the natural environment of the region that result in the depreciation and loss of the productive powers in the transformational economy. The purpose of investigation is the justification of the basic directions of development of the productive powers of the region in the context of ecologization of the economy and health protection of the population (by the example of iodine-scarce Donetsk region). The methods of investigation are system-analytical, dialectical, historically logical, comparative, questioning, target expert poll, ecologically statistic, cartographical, subject oriented, program targeted, deductive. The practical importance of the obtained results consists in the possibility of wide use of stated in the dissertation scientifically justified suggestions for development of the productive powers of the region from the position of impact of harmful ecological factors, including deficit of iodine, on the health of the population of Donetsk region. The scientific novelty of the obtained results is that first the conceptual approach for the stable development of the productive powers on the basis of ecologization of the economy and established factors of vulnerability of health of the people and environment, occurred by the deficit of iodine. The conceptual and categorical definitions, such as "ecologization of the economy", "ecological justice", "corrected net domestic product", "critical natural capital"; the scientific approach to the interpretation of the ecological health of the population, as one of the directions of demography, have been improved. The methodical approaches to the demographic prognosis by means of the method of movement of ages; the conception of human dependence on risks; medically ecological diagnostics of human health in the iodine-scarce region and the necessity of the development of complex program of the liquidation of iodine-scarce diseases; the methodical approach to the evaluation of economic damages and lost profits of the region with the worsening of the health of the population by means of the DALY(s) index, have been further developed.
