Essay

The object: education and upbringing of gifted children at the USA schools; the purpose: on the basis of the theory and practice of education and upbringing of gifted children in the USA define the system of socio-pedagogical support of gifted children, emphasize possible ways of usage of American positive experience for improvement of work with gifted children in Ukraine; methods: the analysis of literature; periodization, systematization, classification of the historical facts and processes, the analysis of the documentary sources and archival materials, legislative and regulatory documentation concerning the process of identification and giving the support to gifted children in the USA; the method of comparative analysis; novelty: the genesis of the socio-pedagogical support of gifted child-ren in USA is disclosed, the structure, content and peculiarities of the system of socio-pedagogical support of gifted children in the USA; results: a special course “The development of the pupils’ giftedness” is worked out for the students of higher educational estab-lishments and the system of professional development of pedagogical staff; branch – general pedagogy and the history of pedagogy.
