Essay

This thesis focuses on an up-to-date psychological pedagogical problem of upbringing of aesthetic culture of high schoolchildren of Specialist Schools of Arts in Great Britain; its state is analyzed in the theory of education. On the basis of the analysis of scientific and pedagogical literature as well as secondary school curricula and legislative documents on aesthetic education in Great Britain the peculiarities of the process of shaping of aesthetic culture in high schoolchildren of British Specialist Schools of Arts (Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Media Arts) are outlined; the essence of the notion "aesthetic culture" is specified. Similar and different ideas in the approaches to defining the notion of aesthetic culture by British and domestic researchers in the scientific and arts paradigm of modern education are highlighted. The experience of realization of the content, forms and methods of shaping of aesthetic culture in high schoolchildren of British Specialist Schools of Arts are generalized. A comparative analysis of the artistic subjects which are included into secondary school curricula in Great Britain and Ukraine is made. The propositions are given as to the possible application of the effective elements of shaping of aesthetic culture of schoolchildren in domestic pedagogical practice.
