Object - the primary school teaching process during the second half of XIX - the beginning of XX century; the aim - to systematize the theoretical ideas and generalize the practical experience data of positive attitude to learning forming in primary school pupils during the second half of XIX - the beginning of XX century in order to improve the teaching process in present day schools; methods - general scientific, historical, comparative-historical; novelty - the research has been the first one to present a comprehensive analysis of the problem of positive attitude to learning forming in primary school pupils in the domestic pedagogical thought during the specific historic period; the contribution of Ukrainian educators to the study of theoretical aspects of the problem under research has been defined; the directions of scientific researches of the educators of the period devoted to working out the ways of positive attitude to learning forming have been singled out and the generalization of the theoretical ideas implementation experience in schools has been carried out. Little known archival materials (12) are introduced for scientific study; results - the theoretical and practical data of the research have been used during seminars on "Pedagogics" at the part-time department (speciality "Primary Education") in Kharkiv G.S.Skovoroda National Pedagogical University; field - pedagogy
