The object is the narrative as a form of being of social memory. The aim is the sociophilosophical analysis of essence, structures and values of the narrative as a form of being of social memory. The methods are structural-functional, linguistic approaches, comparative, typology, communication, discourse-analyses. The thesis represents sociophilosophical analysis of narratives determined by the correspondent discourse practices which exploit socially constructed narrations to structure comprehension of social phenomena. It is proved that there always exist a certain number of narratives developed from concrete social and cultural practices. The narrative as a form of being of social memory sustains a mode of importing certain meaning into identification operations through structuring persons psycho. Main function of the narrative is to enable self identification of some community through textual fixation and retranslation of its uniqueness. A set of narratives determining social memory is constructed as a result of social interactions, it is sustained by existing horizon of meaning, and it malfunctions when the sociocultural frame enabling its entity ceases to exist. The thesis gives observation of narratives characteristic for different social formations such as - family, gender, community, nation, etc., which made it possible to define general specifics of the narrative as a form of social memory entity.
