Glushchuk-Oleia G. Methods of Expressing Causativeness in Modern Spanish

This thesis focuses on the study of the universal categoryof causativeness through elucidating its expression patterns in the verb system (synthetic causative), as well as in the periphrastic system in the modern Spanish language (analytical causative). Regarding causativeness as a special verb categary, the thesis establishes its definition and systematizesits linguistic means of manifestation. Both lexical-semantic and lexical-syntactic methods of causative expression have been analyzed. The practical part of the thesis generelyzes the semantic classification of Spanish causative verbs, defines their semantic content, describes morfological formation of derivative causative verbs, determines paradigmatic relations of causative constructions and reveals the functional specificity of factitive and permissive causative periphreses.
