The dissertation elaborates on theoretical and methodical bases of the complex research into the issue of depopulation and develops the guidelines on the proper counteraction policy against depopulation in Ukraine; the main factors aggravating depopulation tendencies in Ukraine and other European countries are defined in the paper; the methodological and methodical approaches towards the complex research into the issue of depopulation as well as logical framework thereof are provided; the scope of impact of demographic structures and processes on the depopulation rate is examined; the regional specifics of depopulation in Ukraine are considered; the contributions of vital dynamics and migratory movements to the population size dynamics are assessed; the social and economic consequences of depopulation and ageing are characterized; the conceptual approaches towards forming of the counteraction policy against depopulation in Ukraine as well as the adaptive strategy dealing with the advancing population ageing are identified.
