Khyzhniak N. Reproduction of associative field of similes in Spanish-Ukrainian literary translation.

The dissertation focuses on the complex study of associative field of similes in a literary text and the factors that specify the use of translation strategy. Main semantic and stylistic characteristics of associative similes relevant for translation are described as well as the functions of these similes and their influence on translation strategy. The thesis defines two main types of associative similes: stock and original ones that require different methods of their translation. This factor among others has determined the thesis structure. In the second and the third part of the dissertation main ways to reproduce stock and original similes in literary text are analysed from the point of view of their semantics, associative field, importance and semantics of simile's object, their functions and relations with adjacent tropes and stylistic figures, as well as the types of different structures of similes (micro-, extensive and macrosimiles).
