The dissertation presents a systematic research of the pedagogical problem of personality development in the G. Skovoroda's heritage. The author has defined the essence and the meaning of personal development, as well as its stage in the heritage by G. Skovoroda; has defined the teacher's mission in the development of the personality of the student. The author found that the G. Skovoroda's ideas began a creative continuation of the ideas of thinkers and teachers of Ukrainian Baroque era. Indicated on the relationship of pedagogical ideas in the field of personal development by G. Skovoroda and modern psychological, pedagogical and philosophical foundations of educational reform national education system.
