The analysis of the andragogical framework of adult education in the scientific writings of M. Knowles has revealed that it is based on his understanding of: andragogy as "the art and science of helping human beings to learn"; specific features of the adult learner (the need to understand the value of learning, self-direction, rich and varied experience, readiness to learn for solving developmental tasks, problem orientation in learning, inner motivation); andragogical principles of adult learning that follow from the specific features of the adult learner, namely: the principle of conscious attitude to learning, the principle of self-direction, the principle of reliance on the student's personal experience, the principle of context-dependence of learning, the principle of practicalitу.
