Essay

The dissertation is the first comprehensive study of the history of formation of the Ukrainian drawing as an independent form of art. The preconditions of emergence, stylistic stages of formation and development of Ukrainian drawing from the oldest surviving drawing sheets (end of 17th century) to the establishment the first higher school of fine arts in Ukraine, Ukrainian Academy of Art (1917) were studied on the basis of analysis of the Ukrainian museum collections and literature sources. The regularities of establishment of genres in the Ukrainian drawing were identified as well as peculiarities of using decorative materials and using color, according to the style of the day.
