Essay

The thesis is dedicated to the investigation of the problem of formation and development of grammar school mathematical education content in the Western Ukraine in the late XIX - early XX century. The author considers the features of mathematical education in grammar schools under the influence of social, historical and cultural circumstances; defines the main stages of mathematical education content development in the Western Ukraine grammar schools in this period. It is analyzed due to the rich bibliographic base peculiarities of content transformation, modernization of forms, methods and means of grammar school mathematical education in the late XIX - early XX century; defines courses in mathematics for grammar schools in different regions of the Western Ukraine. The comparative analysis of curricula in mathematics for grammar schools in Eastern Galicia, Volyn and Transcarpathian regions is made. The contribution of Ukrainian scientists, mathematicians, educators to the theory and practice of organization of mathematical instruction in grammar schools on the national basis and popularization is highlighted. It is determined the ways of using historical experience of grammar school mathematical education structuring in modern conditions of teaching mathematics.
