The dissertation is devoted to the analysis of psychological prerequisites of training social responsibility of future engineers. Based on the main approaches of Organizational and Basic Psychology, the content, sense and structure of the social responsibility phenomenon is showed. The classification of methods for responsibility, social responsibility of personality and organizations measurement is represented. A psychodiagnostic tool (questionnaire SRS-37 - Social responsibility scale) is developed for measurement social responsibility of personality. The scale was derived from a study of National Technical University of Ukraine "KPI" students (N = 311, age 19-24) filling in the proposed questionnaire. Posteriori five-factor model of social responsibility is created. This model consists of the following components: civil consciousness, law consciousness, awareness of the results of one's actions , moral consciousness and altruism. Gender and cultural aspects of social responsibility were distinguished. While investigating cultural aspects of social responsibility two samples of Ukrainian and Turkish future engineers were compared (N=120; 60 - Ukrainian, 60 - Turkish students, aged 22-25). Ukrainian students mostly regard social responsibility as duty, task completion, and responsibility for the results of their actions. Turkish students consider social responsibility as family care, relationships with other people, respect, control and order in the society. As for gender aspects, women showed higher indicators of social responsibility than men (T-student: men - 144,10, women - 150,10; p<0,03). On the basis of pilot research and the proposed model, the system of training lessons for social responsibility development of future engineers is created, that includes informational, diagnostic and correction components. The analysis of results "before" and "after" training indicated its efficiency. The empirical research proved that during the training lessons the internal determined aspects of social responsibility, i.e. awareness of results of one's actions, moral consciousness, and altruism are the most flexible and undergo changes during the training. On the other hand, the external determined aspects of personality's social responsibility, i.e. civil consciousness and law consciousness are deep. Except for personalized factor, they are influenced by society and state, hence these prerequisites should be taken into account in training social responsibility of future engineers at a technical university. The proposed training programme is proved to be applied at a technical university to increase students' social responsibility, moral development, law consciousness, and awareness of ethical issues to help them deal with ethical dilemmas in their future professional activity. Key words: social responsibility of an engineer, model of personality's social responsibility, technical university, moral consciousness, civil consciousness, law consciousness, awareness of the results of one's actions, altruism.
