Sopylyuk N. Lingo-cultural adaptation of M. Proust's psychological prose in Ukrainian translation

The thesis deals with lingo-cultural adaptation in Ukrainian translation of M. Proust's psychological prose. The author proves that lingo-cultural adaptation is an important creative component of interlingua and intercultural communication. Lingo-cultural adaptation aims to recreate author's conception and to provide adequate translation. The thesis proves that lingo-cultural adaptation is determined by lingo-cultural original and translation reader's dissimilarities. The main types of adaptation and adaptive strategies utilizing different language levels are delimitated. Correlation of direct equivalents and adaptive strategies in the translation process are defined. The peculiarities of A. Perepadia's translation method are analyzed. The special attention is paid to verbalization peculiarities of author's conception of original text on lexico-semantic and syntactic levels. Peculiarities of rendering lingo-stylistical means of psychological M. Proust's prose in Ukrainian literary translation are considered.
