Essay

The thesis offers a new comprehensive approach to the study of communicative and genre features of official political speeches of the French President Nikolas Sarkozy and the Prime-Minister Fran?ois Fillon. The linguistic status of the official political speech is determined through the recent achievements of text linguistics, general discourse theory, pragmatics, and argumentation theory. Therefore the official speech is considered as a specific discursive form with institutional, ritual and rhetorical features, as a language product, based on the communication situation and communicant's institutional status. Pragmatism, objectivity and stereotype are typical for it.
