Stryzhova I. Odessa society of history and antiquities (1839-1922): protection of historical and cultural heritage of South Ukraine

Dissertational work is the first complex research in which on the basis of a wide range of archival sources, the previous historiography, the analysis of all main directions of the declared subject is presented. Features of formation and development process of protection system of cultural heritage monuments, stages, the directions are noted. In the course of development of organizational bases of the activity, OSHA made a contribution to creation of legal base of cultural heritage protection in the Russian Empire. The museum and library basis was the OSHA successful projects in the sphere of protection of historical and cultural heritage. In the course of the activity in the sphere of protection of historical and cultural heritage OSHA mainly contacted to the Imperial archaeological commission and the Moscow society of history and Russian antiquities. Experience of existence OSHA was important base for further development of business of historical and cultural heritage protection in the south of modern Ukraine.
