This thesis focuses on the study of cultural, communicative and pragmatic aspects of the textual concept FEMININITY in the ХІХ–ХХth Century French realistic fiction. The research offers a methodology for a complex analysis of a gender-specific concept in realistic fiction. The concept FEMININITY’ hierarchal model has been elaborated according to the period-determined cultural perception of women; its figurative and symbolic space has been outlined. Communicative and pragmatic specificity of the concept’s representation in female characters’ speech acts has been revelead.
