Volfovska O. Cognitive Peculiarities of the Ornamental Text: A Study of Contemporary Francophone Fiction of the Maghreb

This thesis focuses on the study of cognitive peculiarities of the ornamental text specific to contemporary African francophone literature in the Maghreb countries. The research provides a theoretical basis and develops a complex methodology for the cognitive analysis of the ornamental text in Maghreb francophone fiction. Language and cultural interaction pertinent to the area has been considered, and the representation of the Maghreb worldview in francophone fiction has been elucidated. The thesis characterizes stylistic peculiarities of the texts under study, as well as cognitive mechanisms determining their expressiveness achieved through the iconicity of the linguistic sign. Cognitive dynamics underpinning the formation of conceptual integration networks in francophone ornamental texts has been clarified.
