Essay

Object – teaching and educational process in institutes of higher education in the USA; the aim – to systematize theoretical ideas and generalize practical experience of the problem of gender stereotypes development in students in the institutes of higher education in the USA in order to creatively use the experience of American scholars in the teaching and educational process of domestic institutes of higher education; methods – general scientific, historic and comparative-historic, prognostic; novelty – the research has been the first to provide a comprehensive analysis of the problem of gender stereotypes development in students of institutes of higher education in the USA from 40s of XX century to the beginning of XXI century; the origin of gender stereotypes forming in students of institutes of higher education in the USA has been analysed; the stages in the gender stereotypes development in students of institutes of higher education in the USA during the period under research on the basis of three elements of the hidden curriculum have been substantiated; the experience of gender stereotypes reducing in students of institutes of higher education in the USA has been generalized; the aspects of creative use of American pedagogically valuable experience on gender stereotypes prevention in present day Ukrainian education have been considered; the ideas dealing with the content, methods and forms of gender education of American students in institutes of higher education have been investigated; results – the theoretical ideas and factual data of the research have been incorporated in the special course on History of Pedagogy under the title “Theory and practice of the development and correction of gender stereotypes in students of institutes of higher education in the USA (historic and pedagogical aspect)” for the Master degree students of the institutes of higher education of III-IV stages of accreditation, training specialists in “Pedagogical Education”; field – pedagogy.
